3. Advantages
Permalloy, a high-permeability nickel-iron alloy, is what keeps this transformer linear across the audio band. The laminated core concentrates flux efficiently, so insertion loss and harmonic distortion stay low at both ends of the spectrum and programme material keeps its natural timbre.
Because primary and secondary are galvanically isolated, the transformer breaks the ground path between two pieces of equipment. Hum, buzz and common-mode interference are stopped at the transformer instead of travelling into the signal chain, and the source and load are shielded from DC offset and ground potential differences.
